A group of political and civil activists in Iran issued a statement protesting the death of thousands of Iranians as a result of the mismanagement of Corona, stressing that the authoritarian and repressive approach, along with corruption and mismanagement, and the personal decision of the “head of the regime” to prevent the delivery of the vaccine caused the death of thousands of Iranians and entered into a state of emergency. National mourning.
The signatories of the statement called for the trial of senior officials of the Iranian regime before a “competent and independent” court, due to the killing of tens of thousands of Iranians, adding that “those responsible for the unintentional killing of at least tens of thousands of Iranians should be tried. Although such an expectation is far from attainable at the moment, but history promises something else.”
The statement was signed by dozens of political and civil activists in Iran, including Abu al-Fadl Qadiani, Ihsan Shariati, Badr Sadat Mufidi, Bahman Ahmadi Amoy, Parwaneh Salhshouri, Massoud Bastani, Hashem Aghajari, Zia Nabawi, Ali Reza Rajaei, Muhammad Ali Umayyi, Masoumeh Dehghan and Abd al-Fattah Soltan.
“We live in a situation where the protest of the bereaved and those affected by the crisis resonates in different ways, and the sense of family has doubled in the authoritarian regime, which sacrificed people’s health for the sake of politics,” the statement read.
The authors of the statement stressed that “the authoritarian approach, the repressive character and the method, in addition to resorting to superstition and adherence to religion, this time, has taken the nation hostage,” adding that society is in national mourning as a result of mismanagement of the crisis caused by Covid-19 disease.
The statement, without naming Ali Khamenei, referred to his order to ban the import of American and British-made Corona vaccines to Iran, as one of the main reasons for the current catastrophic situation of Corona in Iran.
The activists emphasized that “the head of the regime takes a personal decision and prevents the import of the vaccine, and the authorities follow it without wisdom and commitment to their professional oath and without regard for the lives that are lost, and because of this absolute dependence, citizens suffer from poverty and die.”
The signatories to the statement pointed out that the Iranian regime’s officials kept secret, at first, denying the existence of the virus and hid the real statistics of the victims and mocked them, then they considered this phenomenon as a conspiracy made by the enemies, and even deprived the country from the experience of the world, by returning Doctors Without Borders.
The signatories added that Iranian officials were “ultimately forced to accept the truth”, but at this point, in addition to the fictional promises of producing a domestic vaccine, they immediately began to look for economic opportunities and reap the benefits, and now with changes and new appointments – the time to reveal the Hidden – some quotes and documents show the great catastrophe of corruption, mismanagement, waste of resources and deadly demagogy these days.
They stressed that the collection of intelligence data and what was revealed behind the scenes “is evidence of the existence of a system that seeks nepotism and organized corruption, which clearly shows the overlap of the common interests of officials in the system, including production and trade in the economy and all elements of political power,” adding that this image It was not drawn by the opposition, but by the regime itself, and it is as if lives are being sacrificed to politics, and above all, the poor and the dispossessed, being held hostage by the power.”
The authors of the statement also referred to the arrest of 5 lawyers and civil activists, and wrote: “Today, despite the high voices of protest against these facts, it is feared that these rightful voices will go to the corner of families under security pressure, and seven lawyers and civil activists were recently arrested and imprisoned, who were seeking to investigate Justice”.
The signatories of the statement said: “In line with our humanitarian, national, religious and civic duties, we call on the regime, in the first place, to provide immediate vaccination as soon as possible, in addition to providing medical facilities, and preventing Muharram gatherings to stop the loss of life. The shortcomings in managing the crisis that led the nation to this fate.
They stressed that “the right requires the establishment of a competent and independent court to try those responsible for the involuntary killing of at least tens of thousands of Iranians. Although such an expectation is currently elusive, history holds another promise.”
