Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The head of the Hamas political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, met on Tuesday in the Qatari capital, Doha, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian.
The media department of the Iranian Foreign Ministry said that the meeting took place in the building of the Iranian embassy in Qatar, according to the Iranian news agency (IRNA).
In this meeting, the Iranian foreign minister “reaffirmed Tehran’s principled positions towards the so-called “Palestinian cause” as the issue that affects the core of the Islamic nation.”
For his part, Meshaal praised “Iran’s positions of support and solidarity with the Palestinian people’s uprising,” as he put it.
It is noteworthy that the Iranian Foreign Minister arrived, on Tuesday, in Doha from Muscat, and said that his visit to the Sultanate of Oman and Qatar comes within the framework of the “policy of strengthening and consolidating relations with neighboring countries” pursued by the Iranian government.
