In an interview with Foreign Policy magazine, Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz revealed that Israel would be ready to live with a new nuclear agreement with Iran, provided that the United States would have an alternative plan in the event of Iran’s non-compliance.
Gantz requested that the alternative US plan include broad economic pressure on Iran, in the event the talks fail.
He also hinted that Israel has a third plan, which may involve military action, especially as the Israeli army is preparing its measures to stop Iran’s nuclear progress.
This comes as experts studying the new data contained in the latest International Atomic Energy Agency reports revealed that Iran has the ability to produce fuel for a nuclear warhead within one month, according to a report by the American newspaper “New York Times”.
The report, released Monday by the Institute for Science and International Security, an independent group that analyzes the findings of the UN agency, concluded that Iran’s summer enrichment of uranium to a purity of 60% had a significant impact, making it able to produce Fuel for one bomb within one month, while it can produce fuel for the second weapon in less than three months, and the third in less than five months.
On Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett called on the major powers to put an end to the development of Iran’s nuclear program.
The Israeli Prime Minister added that Iran has reached a very advanced stage of its nuclear program, adding, “We know how to confront Iran and we will do that.”
In parallel, Gantz said, “Iran does not respect the agreements it has signed, and there is no reason to believe that it will honor any future agreements. It is time for action.”
He called on countries that are still members of the nuclear agreement to impose the sanctions stipulated in the agreement.
